At the end of last year I purchased Runner’s World Coach Marathon Training Guide and read it cover to cover eager to glean all I could to make me a better runner. One of the items that I have found to be of immeasurable benefit to me is the addition of L-Carnitine to my training regime.
L-Carnitine is a supplement often used to help burn fat for those looking to lose weight. I take 1 capsule 3 times a day for a daily dosage of 2000 mg. Be forewarned that consuming too much can leave you smelling like fish! The fat is burned as a fuel source which for endurance athletes means that we can train longer and race harder before having to tap into our glycogen stores for energy. The longer we can go before reaching into our glycogen stores, the longer we can go before hitting the wall.
And I did drop about 10 lbs as well!
