Ran my fastest 5km training run in over 2 years. 5th fastest in training ever.
Did you do anything different or did it just happen? Way to go.
I was trying something from the article I emailed you. Did you read it? 🙂 The point about running at a moderate effort. So I wasn’t “pushing” per se, but just making sure I kept my pace consistently aggressive……. a tempo run I guess really.
I knew it was a decent time but I didn’t realize it’d been that long since I hit this pace outside of a race.
It’s a nice indicator for me as I’m just starting to work on speed.
I’m glad you sent the article. It let me know that I have been doing some things right. I don’t have a set plan but every so often when I feel like I’ve been taking it too easy I will pick up the pace a bit and see how long I can keep it up. I also enjoy doing fartleks. I usually just pick a spot in the distance to go hard to then slow down until I’m ready to do it again. But I don’t have a set plan like running fast for 30 seconds then two min recovery or what have you. I just go by feel.
